In the late 18th century, the Taiping Rebellion broke out in China, with its leaders seeking to overthrow the Qing dynasty and establish a new empire based on their religious beliefs. Zhang Biao was one of the leading figures in this movement, and he played a key role in its success.

The Taiping Rebellion began in 1851, when the rebels launched an attack on Beijing. However, they were defeated by the Qing forces and forced to retreat to the countryside. Zhang Biao then took command of the rebel forces and led them on a series of successful campaigns against the Qing army.

One of the most famous of these campaigns was the Battle of Jiaozhou Bay, which took place in 1853. The battle was fought between the Qing forces and the Taiping rebels, and it ended in a decisive victory for the rebels.
